Brief Description

The objective of this study is to clearly indicate the potential consumption of the Russian market and to provide a sound basis for the implementation of a generic promotion campaign to accelerate the rate of growth of cocoa and chocolate consumption, thus increasing the demand for cocoa beans.

Project Objectives

 

The objective of this study is to clearly indicate the potential consumption of the Russian market and to provide a sound basis for the implementation of a generic promotion campaign to accelerate the rate of growth of cocoa and chocolate consumption, thus increasing the demand for cocoa beans.

The operational objectives will be to determine the market fundamentals that support the potential rate of increase in cocoa and chocolate consumption. This would include determining the consumption patterns and target groups for a generic promotion campaign.

 

Project Components

The project has six components in order to achieve the objectives described. These components are: review of the Russian market for cocoa and chocolate; overview of chocolate market developments over the past three decades; the characteristics of consumers of cocoa and chocolate: motivation for and constrains on consumption; develop strategies for generic promotion campaign to increase the consumption of cocoa and chocolate; assessment of potential impact of generic promotion in Russia on suppliers of cocoa beans; and central coordination and writing of the final report.
